2011 The views expressed in this working paper are those of the author and do not necessarily reflect the views or policy of the International Energy Agency (IEA) Secretariat or of its individual member countries. This paper is a work in progress, designed to elicit comments and further debate; thus, comments are welcome, The International Energy Agency (IEA), an autonomous agency, was established in November 1974. Its primary mandate was – and is – twofold: to promote energy security amongst its member countries through collective response to physical disruptions in oil supply, and provide authoritative research and analysis on ways to ensure reliable, affordable and clean energy for its 28 member countries and beyond. The IEA carries out a comprehensive programme of energy cooperation among its member countries, each of which is obliged to hold oil stocks equivalent to 90 days of its net imports. The Agency's aims include the following objectives: Secure member countries' access to reliable and ample supplies of all forms of energy; in particular, through maintaining effective emergency response capabilities in case of oil supply disruptions. Promote sustainable energy policies that spur economic growth and environmental protection in a global context – particularly in terms of reducing greenhouse-gas emissions that contribute to climate change. Improve transparency of international markets through collection and analysis of energy data. Support global collaboration on energy technology to secure future energy supplies and mitigate their environmental impact, including through improved energy effi ciency and development and deployment of low-carbon technologies. Find solutions to global energy challenges through engagement and dialogue with non-member countries, industry, international organisations and other stakeholders. The European Commission also participates in the work of the IEA. Please note that this publication is subject to specii c restrictions that limit its use and distribution. متن کاملCombating Climate Change: The Role of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency
Climate change and its possible impacts on the environment and socio-economic systems now constitute the most important environmental problem facing mankind in the 21st century. Climate change will increase poverty and hardship, endanger food security, destabilize economies, decrease food and water and create social insecurity in many countries and undermine our goals for achieving sustainable ...
متن کاملAnalysis and Optimization using Renewable Energies to Get Net-Zero Energy Building for Warm Climate
Due to low energy price, economic optimization of consumption has no justification for users in Iran. Nowadays, the issue of ending fossil fuels, production of greenhouse gases and the main role of building in consumption of considerable amount of energy has drawn the focus of global researches to a new concept called net zero energy building. In this study, modeling, simulation and energy anal...
متن کاملEvaluation of Off-grid Hybrid Renewable Systems in the Four Climate Regions of Iran
Renewable systems influence the process of supplying domestic electricity demands. It will be useful to replace the conventional energy generation system by renewable energy sources since the uncontrolled use of fossil fuels is accompanied by global warming and environmental hazards, in addition to the danger of their depletion, and because most of the energy derived from these fuels are used i...
متن کاملAssessing the Effects of Green Tax Policy on CO2 Emission with Emphasis on Renewable Energy Development (Case study of D8 Countries)
In recent years, fossil energy consumption has increased because of economic growth and this has led to carbon dioxide emissions and environmental crises. Governments struggle to solve this problem by appropriate policies such as green or environmental tax policies. This policy is based on costs and can control pollution and increase renewable energy consumption as a substitute for fossil ener...
